Insulated Glass Packages - Vinyl Replacement Windows - Gentek Skip to main content

BarrierXP® Insulated Glass Packages

Reducing energy loss is often the number one reason for purchasing replacement windows. Windows are roughly 80% glass, so it’s important to choose the ideal glass system for your home and climate. Upgrading to a high-performance Low-E (low-emissivity) insulated glass package may help further increase year-round energy savings.

Choosing the right insulated glass package for your home can be daunting. For guidance, read our blog, "How to Choose the Right Glass Package for Your Home."

Optimize your Energy Efficency

BarrierXP® combines multi-layered, low-emissivity (Low-E) glass, argon gas and a warm-edge spacer system.

  • Proven to be far more energy efficient than ordinary clear glass units.
  • Compare the glass package performance:
    •  The lower the U-Factor, the less energy you’ll need to heat your home
    •  The lower the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC), the more you’ll conserve on air-conditioning

Summer

In summer months, Low-E glass helps block unwanted solar heat gain.

Winter

In winter months, Low-E reduces heat loss by reflecting warm air back into your home.

Precision-Engineered Spacer Systems

The spacer system in a window unit works double- time: it improves the energy efficiency of the window and stabilizes the panes of glass.
BarrierXP® PriME offers two high-performance spacer options.

Intercept Warm-Edge Spacer

The Intercept Warm-Edge Spacer features a unique, one-piece metal alloy, U-channel design that reduces heat loss through the window; it’s stronger and better at retaining insulating gas than traditional box metal spacers. Or choose the BarrierXP® ThermD Stainless Steel Intercept Spacer for superior strength and even greater insulating gas retention in the window unit. (East Coast Only)

Super Spacer® Structural Foam Spacer

The structural foam design inhibits the path of escaping far more efficiently than any other type of spacer, reduces conduction and helps prevent condensation.

Super Spacer® Structural Foam Spacer’s Proven Advantage

  • True warm-edge
  • Advanced multilaye vapor barrier structure
  • Double-seal system
  • Substantially more thermally efficient at the edge than windows made with conventional aluminum spacers
  • Reduces the chance of seal failure
  • Improved sound absorption over traditional metal spacers
  • Helps to reduce year-round energy use
  • Tested and proven durability

Choosing the Right Insulated Glass Package

Many Barrier XP® insulated glass packages meet the latest ENERGY STAR® 7.0 requirements, including our innovative BarrierXP® PriME glass package, which meets ENERGY STAR Most-Efficient criteria in all climate zones.  Consult your window professional for the optimal glass package required for your home and climate zone.

BarrierXP® PriME

Gentek windows are now available with our innovattive BarrierXP® PriME glass package.

  • BarrierXP® PriME , meets ENERGY STAR® Most Energy Efficient in all climate zones
  • Provides a powerful energy-saving shield with three panes of glass, three surfaces of Low-E (low-emissivity) technology, two spaces of argon gas fill and two warm-edge spacer systems
  • BarrierXP® PriME uses argon between the panes of glass, a more cost effective gas compared to krypton.
  • Argon Gas makes BarrierXP® PriME an excellent choice that may help your windows qualify for tax credits.1

Improved Insulation with Argon Gas

  • Heavier than air, argon gas creates a thermal barrier between the panes of glass to help block energy loss through the window
  • Argon gas in BarrierXP® PriME is a more cost-effective insulating gas compared to krypton

BarrierXP® PriME is available for Signature Elite and 80 Series windows and Sanctuary sliding patio doors² – see your Gentek Sales Representative for specific product offering.

Full Collection of BarrierXP® Insulated Glass Packages

Many BarrierXP® insulated glass packages meet the latest ENERGY STAR® requirements. Consult your window professional for the energy-efficient glass packages available for your home and climate zone.

BarrierXP®

BarrierXP® combines multi-layer low-emissivity (Low-E) glass and argon gas, along with the Intercept® Warm-Edge Spacer System, to achieve outstanding energy savings.

BarrierXP ® ThermD

BarrierXP® ThermD which is U-shaped in its design, supports seal longevity and gas retention by allowing the glass and sealant to move with the normal expansion and contraction of the window due to temperature changes.

BarrierXP ® sc

BarrierXPsc provides exceptional solar control and thermal insulation. This innovative glass system combines Low-E glass with a third metallic, vacuum-deposition layer to selectively filter out the sun's penetrating heat and destructive UV rays.

BarrierXP® sc Select

West Coast Only

Rather than using a dark tint or extra-thick glass like many solar control products, BarrierXP®sc Select incorporates multiple, virtually imperceptible silver layers that counteract the effects of the solar spectrum, yet allow natural visible light into your home.

BarrierXP® TK2

BarrierXP® TK2 features triple-pane glass with the Intercept Warm-Edge Spacer System, two surfaces of low-emissivity (Low-E) glass and two air spaces filled with krypton gas. This glass system creates a powerful thermal shield against energy loss and helps reduce noise infiltration.

BarrierXP® TK2 Plus

BarrierXP® TK2 Plus glass package features triple-pane glass with the Warm-Edge Structural Foam Spacer System, two surfaces of low-emissivity (Low-E) glass and two air spaces filled with krypton gas. This glass system creates a powerful thermal shield against energy loss and helps reduce noise infiltration.

Built For Your Climate

Energy Star Logo
The ENERGY STAR® label certifies that the window is a positive choice for energy efficiency, fuel savings and the environment. ENERGY STAR is a government-backed voluntary partnership program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy to help consumers recognize energy-efficient products. It’s good for you and good for the environment!

As of October 23, 2023, the ENERGY STAR 7.0 program implemented more stringent energy-saving criteria for windows and doors, with lower U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient performance requirements.  Gentek windows and sliding patio doors offer a variety of BarrierXP®insulated glass packages that meet new ENERGY STAR 7.0 certification in all climate zones.
